Heliochron Privacy Policy

Heliochron is designed as a local-first iPhone app for understanding sun and shade. This policy explains what information the app uses, why it uses it, and how that information is handled in the current version.

Summary

Heliochron does not require an account, does not operate a backend service in the current version, and does not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. Saved places and obstacle drawings are stored locally on your device.

Information Heliochron Uses

Camera

Heliochron uses the camera to show the sun path over your surroundings. Camera frames are used for live alignment and are not uploaded by Heliochron.

Location

Heliochron uses your location to calculate sun paths for the place you are studying. A saved place includes coordinates so it can be recalculated later on your device.

Motion and Heading

Heliochron uses motion and compass heading to orient the sun path and edge rulers as you turn and tilt the iPhone. The sun-exposure reminder uses live direction and location.

Saved places and drawings

A saved place can include its name, coordinates, date, notes, and painted obstacle directions. Older Sun Cards may also include horizon samples and calibration status. The current drawing is saved as a local draft. This data is stored on your device.

What Leaves Your Device

Heliochron does not upload saved places or drawings in the current version. If you choose to share a Sun Card image, iOS sharing controls handle that export and you choose the destination.

Analytics, Ads, And Tracking

The current version of Heliochron does not include third-party advertising SDKs or third-party tracking SDKs.

Professional Use

Heliochron is intended for personal observation and exploration. It is not a certified PV design, survey, or compliance tool.

Children

Heliochron is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes To This Policy

If Heliochron adds cloud sync, accounts, analytics, or other network services in the future, this policy should be updated before those features ship.
